Flutist Nadia Labrie presents her brand new project Flûte passion : Claude Bolling-Suite pour flûte et trio piano jazz. The first composer to cross classical music with jazz, Claude Bolling recorded this work with Jean-Pierre Rampal in 1973, and it immediately met with worldwide success. Joined by Jonathan Turgeon on piano, Dominic Girard on double bass, and Bernard Riche on drums, Nadia offers you her version of the suite, imbued with finesse and sensitivity. This concert is a tribute to Claude Bolling, who died on December 29, 2020, in France. The first part of the concert features the duo Similia performing the most beautiful pieces from their repertoire, by Piazzolla, Érik Marchelie, Benjamin Godard, and François Borne, and the exquisite “Tendre” from Claude Bolling’s Picnic Suite. This appropriately named duo, comprised of Nadia on flute and her twin sister Annie on guitar, has been performing together for 25 years!
